Poison Control Center

1-800-222-1222 or (608) 262-3702

The Wisconsin Poison Center, located in Milwaukee, provides 24-hour, toll-free poison information for all individuals in the State of Wisconsin. In Febuary of 2005, the Poison Center received national certification by the American Association of Poison Control Centers, which is the nationwide organization that sets standards and collects exposure data for poison centers across the country.

Anyone having had direct contact with a known or potential poison can receive immediate advice on what steps to take to prevent injury from that exposure. From anywhere within Wisconsin, land and cell phone access for the general public, industry, EMS, and health care workers is obtained.

The Wisconsin Poison Center (WPC) is the authorized poison information service by the Division of Health for the state of Wisconsin serving over 5.3 million residents. This designation was granted June 2001.  The WPC uses a staff of dedicated RN's, the majority of whom are nationally Certified Specialists by the American Association of Poison Control Centers. The nurses have been trained in clinical toxicology by the poison center medical director. Three physician toxicologists provide medical direction, supervision, and 24-hour availability to the WPC. The Children's Hospital of Wisconsin extensively supports this program with dedicated administrative guidance, funding, telecommunications, information systems technology, and disaster backup to assure uninterrupted and well-planned 24-hour service.

GAIAM Natural Lifestyle

Gaiam was created as a lifestyle company with the vision that, given a choice, people would choose a lifestyle that is healthy and life enhancing, for themselves, their families and the Earth. The Gaiam lifestyle is a vote for individual health as well as the future sustainability of the Earth’s resources. Gaiam strives to provide customers with alternatives to traditional products by offering natural, eco-friendly or healthy versions that compare with the style, quality and price of conventional products.

Gaiam’s goal is to become the trusted source and unifying brand for Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) participants. We understand that the opportunity to affect people’s lives with information and products is both a privilege and a responsibility.

We believe in the concept of “Conscious Commerce,” the practice of making purchasing decisions based on personal values and beliefs. It takes into consideration all the aspects of our lives and the impact we have upon the planet. Research indicates this concept appeals to approximately 50 million people in the U.S. alone.

Our strategy in delivering the distinctive quality for which Gaiam is known is to partner with experts in health/wellness, eco-living and personal development to develop proprietary products that meet our customers’ needs with meaningful solutions.

Our name GAIAM— a fusion of the words “Gaia” (the name of Mother Earth from the Minoan civilization in ancient Crete) and “I am,” reminds us that we are all interconnected with the Earth, the air and water, and very much a part of this living system that sustains us all.

Natural Health Magazine

Stonyfield Farm Organics

Healthy food.
At Stonyfield Farm, we’re committed to keeping artificial ingredients out of food. That’s why we use only pure all natural and organic ingredients—never any preservatives or artificial flavors, colors and sweeteners like other brands. We only use premium milk from farmers who have pledged not to use the synthetic bovine growth hormone, rBGH. And, all of our organic ingredients were produced without the use of antibiotics, synthetic growth hormones and toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers. It’s just pure, natural, REAL food.

Healthy people.
We’re committed to making the best-tasting all natural and organic yogurts with more health benefits than any other brand. Our natural probiotics (cultures) put a little extra health insurance in every delicious bite. All of our yogurts, smoothies and cultured soy contain SIX live active cultures, and we’re the only U.S. yogurt brand with L. reuteri. These natural wonders help promote good digestive health, inhibit the activity of harmful bacteria, and fortify the body’s defenses.

We also add inulin (a natural dietary fiber) to our yogurts. Inulin is a natural way to help boost calcium absorption—all part of our mission to deliver the healthiest, most delicious and nutritious yogurts on Earth.

Healthy planet.
We’re committed to a healthy planet that sustains healthy people and produces healthy food. We’re proud to be involved in many exciting projects that we believe have a positive social and environmental impact.

For starters, we donate 10% of our profits each year to efforts that help protect or restore the Earth. We use our yogurt lids as mini billboards to help educate consumers about environmental issues that threaten the health of our planet, and motivate them to take action.
Through re-use and recycling, we prevent hundreds of tons of materials from reaching the landfill or incinerator each year, and conserve resources for future generations. We also collect our recyclable cups and turn them into useful products. There’s even a toothbrush and razor made from our yogurt cups!

Our environmental business practices have been recognized with national awards for recycling and innovative efforts to reduce global warming, including investments in tree planting and energy efficiency to offset emissions from the energy used to make our yogurt.
We are always learning about better ways to “green” our yogurt-making process and will continue to explore opportunities for achieving a cleaner and safer world. After all, healthy food can only come from a healthy planet.
